A series of films and talks at the University of the Fraser Valley will provide members of the public with an opportunity to learn about the underlying causes of the Israel– Palestine conflict and how Canadians can work for a just peace.

The series, which starts February 1 and runs until March 15, features three critically acclaimed films, two talks, and a panel discussion. All events will be held at the UFV Abbotsford campus on King Road and are free and open to the public.

The series is sponsored by the UFV Department of Political Science.  

The series kicks off on February 1with the film “Roadmap to Apartheid.”

On February 8, UFV student Colter Louwerse will talk on “Canada and the Israel-Palestine Conflict.”

The film “Stone Cold Justice” will be screened on February 22.

On March 1, attendees will take a virtual walking tour of Hebron, and on March 8, the film “The Occupation of the American Mind” will be screened.

Wrapping up the series is a panel discussion about the Boycott Divestment Sanctions (BDS) Movement on March 15.

All events start at 5:00 p.m. in Room B 121and include time for discussion.  

“The troubles in the Holy Land have recently come into the spotlight again with the UN Security Council’s condemnation of Israel’s settlements in the Palestinian West Bank,” said Ron Dart, an instructor in the political science department at UFV.

“These events enable students, faculty and staff, and residents of the Fraser Valley to become better informed and explore what Canada and Canadians can do to effectively work for peace.”
